June 1929

Eastern Region of Iota Phi Lambda Sorority Incorporated created

April 1935

Omicron chapter hosts 4th National Convention, one year after the chapter was chartered

1936-1938

V. Esme Dear (Omicron chapter member), becomes the first black woman to pass the New York State CPA examination

May 1940

Iolanthe Sidney (Omicron chapter charter member) serves as Eastern Regional Director

March 1947

Omicron chapter hosts luncheon to honor charter members

Iota Phi Lambda Sorority Incorporated, founded in Chicago, Illinois

August 1933

Omicron chapter is the third chapter chartered in New York City

August 1936

Mable Hopkins (Omicron chapter charter member) serves as National 2nd Vice President

March 1938

Omicron chapter hosts 3rd Eastern Regional Conference at Bronze Studio in New York City

1940-1943

Omicron chapter hosts the 10th Eastern Region Conference

February 1958

Iota Phi Lambda Sorority Inc. is the first African American business and professional sorority. We are also a member of the coalition of black business sororities. Here’s when the others were founded!
